I, Robot, is a sci-fi movie in 2004 that directed by Alex
Proyas. It has a story about the future life in 2035, which the technology is
really dominating the human’s life. This
movie tells us about a very sophisticated future that people are really depend
on it and the dark side possibility of technology development.
Del Spooner (Will Smith) is the main character of this
movie. He is a detective on a police department and he has a duty to against
the town’s crime. As a techno-phobic, he disagreed that the robot is designed to assist all of the people’s
daily life. The case of crime that cause DR. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell), a
scientist at US Robotics murdered that investigated by Spooner with the help of
USR Robopsychologist, Susan Calvin (Bridget Moynahan). He has a suspicion on
NS5 (the latest USR model of DR. Lanning’s Robot) who murdered its creator. He
thought this technology revolution may have been a dangerous threat for
humanity. The world is left to wonder if they are as safe around their
electronic servants as previously thought. This
investigation is really change his life and so does the humanity.
In the perspective of human computer interaction, this movie
told us that technology is really had a strong effect to human’s psychology and
impacts our daily life. But, we can’t totally depend ourselves to some
sophisticated things and just let the robot do the rest of our jobs. As the
technology’s creator, we must have a big responsibility to any kind of our
creation, in every way. Human is the most perfect creature on earth.
